Dr Chinoy is an extraordinary doctor. He excels in specialist knowledge and skill as well as capacities to relate these directly to his wider medical understandings and insights - along with being extremely attentive to patients' concerns and conditions. Dr Chinoy is certainly a valuable contributor to the excellence of the care and specialists capacities of the hospital.

I met Professor Chinoy after suffering several weeks of misery... not understanding what was happening to my body. I was a fit and active 73 year old, swimming several times a week, walking and enjoying an active social life. It started with a badly itching scalp, the rash then spread to my chest and back... ...then came the loss of movement in my arms and legs... very frightening. I had an appointment with Professor Chinoy at the Alexander Hospital and he immediately diagnosed me as having Dermatomyositis which meant nothing to me. My immune system had crashed and I needed immediate treatment. He assured me in a quiet and confident manner he could and would help me to get better. But there was a but, the condition could be brought on by Cancer and was an early warning the condition could be present in my body and would need further treatment. Within 2 days the Professor had admitted me to the Rheumatology Department at the Salford Royal Hospital where he and his team started to restore my immune system. I cannot praise this department enough. After extensive treatment I was then referred to the Oncology Department at Christie's.... they confirmed Cancer was present and I would need Surgery and Chemotherapy treatment. It has been extensive, thorough and very professional at every step. I have had a total hysterectomy, completed the Chemotherapy course and am now awaiting a Scan. Thanks to the quiet confidence of Professor Chinoy, his superior knowledge of his subject, and his support throughout, I can say a little word which means so much..... THANK YOU and yes, if you want great care.... I recommend Professor Chinoy and his team unreservedly.

I have had a telephone consultation with Professor Chinoy today. He explained everything to me clearly and made sure that I understood fully. I felt confident that I was being listened to and I also felt comfortable with asking questions. The opportunity to have a telephone consultation , rather than having to travel many miles to the hospital, was ideal.

After suffering for 5 weeks with painful swollen hands and feet, which our GPs could not diagnose, we had a consultation with Dr Hector Chinoy. Immediately we felt at ease as he listened intently, asked relevant questions followed by a through examination of all the affected areas. Following further discussion and explaining his thoughts he arranged for bloods to be taken immediately after our visit. A DECT scan was also arranged at the Spire, Didsbury for the following week, the results of which would provide the diagnosis whether the problem was Gout or Rheumatoid Arthritus. This gave us great confidence and we looked forward to our appointment with Dr Chinoy in 2 weeks time. Wonderful news - Gout and not Rheumatoid Arthritus, Dr Chinoy went through the scan results with us, gave us information from UK Gout Society to show foods which would help to reduce the purines in my system and foods which I should not eat. Medications for the future were suggested and Dr Chinoy will liaise with my GP, detailing the meeting sending a copy to ourselves. Dr Chinoy is brilliant and would recommend him as a great rheumatologist. Gordon and Ann Lyon

After a long, difficult and frustrating 18 months of pain and swelling in various joints and very few answers around this, I made the decision to find a private rheumatologist. After researching, I came across Dr Chinoy. Today I had my appointment with him and could not recommend him highly enough. He had an extremely caring nature and it is clear to see that he is very much invested in his job and helping his patients. Dr Chinoy spent time listening and investigating each symptom and welcomed the many questions I had. Dr Chinoy provided a clear outline of the next steps required to support me and ensured I felt confident and comfortable with this plan. I am truly so grateful to have found a doctor who I am able to trust will find the answers I need.
